January 24, 2019 — Whole Foods Markets announced a recall for dozens of pre-made food items and salads containing baby spinach due to a risk of contamination with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses were reported as of the recall date.
Whole Foods Recall in Response to Satur Farms Spinach Recall
The Whole Foods recall was issued in response to a previous recall for spinach and mesclun lettuce by Satur Farms of Cutchogue, NY, after a random sample tested positive for Salmonella during testing by health officials in Florida and New York.
What Items Were Recalled by Whole Foods?
The recalled items from Whole Foods include salads, pizza, sandwiches and wraps, which were sold at stores in the following 8 states: Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
Consumers who bought food containing baby spinach from the salad bars or hot bars at Whole Foods Market locations in these states should discard items purchased through January 23, 2019.
