UPDATE: ZLINE Expands Recall for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Risk

In November 2023, ZLINE expanded the recall remedies for about 30,000 gas ranges. These ranges were recalled in January 2023 due to a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

After the recall, ZLINE said it “received 131 reports that the repair was nor completed successfully and the ranges were still emitting dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.”

ZLINE is now expanding the remedies available to consumers to also include a replacement range or a full refund.

ZLINE Gas Ranges Recalled for Carbon Monoixde Hazard

In January 2023, ZLINE expanded a recall for gas ranges that can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

The full recall now involves about 30,000 of ZLINE’s 30-inch, 36-inch and 48-inch RG gas ranges, which includes about 28,000 ranges that were previously recalled in December 2022.

What is the Problem?

“The oven of the gas ranges can emit dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO) while in use, posing a serious risk of injury or death from carbon monoxide poisoning,” according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

How Many People Were Injured?

Three people said they had to seek medical attention for carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms. There were also 44 reports of carbon monoxide emission from the recalled gas ranges.

What Gas Ranges Were Recalled?

The expanded recall involves the oven compartment of ZLINE gas ranges in three sizes (30 inches, 36 inches and 48 inches).

The ZLINE logo is printed on the bottom of the door. The model number is printed on a label on the back of the range. The recall involves gas ranged with model numbers RG30, RGS-30, RGB-30, RG36, RGS-36 and RGB-36, RG48, RGS-48, or RGB-48

Where Were They Sold?

The recalled gas ranges were sold nationwide from February 2019 through December 2022 at Best Buy, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, The Range Hood Store, and online at www.bestbuy.com, www.build.com, www.costco.com, www.homedepot.com, www.therangehoodstore.com, www.overstock.com and www.wayfair.com.

What is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning?

Carbon monoxide is an odorless gas that is produced any time you burn fuel. It can be found in the fumes emitted by gas ranges, fireplaces, grills, furnaces, generators, and more. In a confined space, carbon monoxide can replace oxygen and cause a person to lose consciousness and suffocate due to a lack of oxygen. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include a headache, weakness, dizziness, fast heart-rate, and rapid breathing.
