October 10, 2025 — About 46,600 Ambiano Pressure Cookers were recalled at ALDI stores after 8 reports of severe burn injuries.
The safety issue is a problem with the lid, which may fail to lock when the unit is pressurized. According to the recall:
“The pressure-cooker lid can be opened before sufficient steam pressure has been released, causing hot contents to escape and posing a risk of burn injuries to consumers.”
There were 11 incidents reported in the recall, including 8 people who suffered severe burn injuries when they opened the lid.
The recall involves all Ambiano Electric Pressure Cookers with either 6-quart or 8-quart sizes, and the following model numbers:
- 93550 (KY-318B)
- 96775 (KY-318A)
- 98527 (6L-PC)
They were sold at ALDI retail stores nationwide between January 2016 and December 2019 for about $40.
ALDI and the Florida-based manufacturer, Tempo USA Inc., are urging customers to immediately stop using the recalled pressure cookers. They are also offering a full refund, either by returning the pressure cooker to ALDI or emailing Tempo USA.
ALDI and Tempo USA are also facing a growing number of lawsuits. These lawsuits involve people who were burned by Ambiano Pressure Cookers in states like Texas, Louisiana, and New York.
There are now hundreds of pressure cooker lawsuits that have been filed by burn victims nationwide, involving a variety of products and manufacturers. These lawsuits all involve people who were burned when their pressure cooker exploded.
Most of these pressure cooker lawsuits involve people who were burned when they were able to open the lid before the unit was fully depressurized, resulting in an explosion of scalding-hot steam, food, or liquid. Other lawsuits involve pressure cookers that suddenly and unexpectedly exploded because the lid failed to lock.
Manufacturers are accused of misleading consumers, failing to issue recalls, and selling pressure cookers with faulty “safety mechanisms” that failed to lock the lid.
