2 Million Cosori Air Fryers Recalled After Fires & Burns Reported

In February 2023, Atekcity Corporation recalled over 2 million COSORI® Air Fryers that were sold since 2018 after hundreds of reports of fires, burn injuries, overheating, and property damage.

What is the Problem?

The air fryers were recalled because “a wire connection in the air fryers can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards,” the recall warns. This is an electrical problem that could cause the air fryer to get so hot that it catches on fire, burns, smokes, or melts plastic components.

How Many People Were Injured?

There were 205 reports of the air fryers catching on fire, burning, melting, overheating or smoking, including 10 reports of people who were burned and 23 reports of property damage.

Was My Air Fryer Recalled?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryers. To check if your air fryer is being recalled, look for the model number that is printed on a label on the bottom of the air fryer or the user’s manual.

The recalled air fryers have the following model numbers: CP158-AF, CP158-AF-R19, CP158-AF-RXW, CP158-AF-RXR, CAF-P581-BUSR, CAF-P581-AUSR, CAF-P581-RUSR, CP137-AF, CP137-AF-RXB, CP137-AF-RXR, CP137-AF-RXW, CS158-AF, CS158-AF-RXB, CS158-AF-R19, CAF-P581S-BUSR, CAF-P581S-RUSR, CAF-P581S-AUSR, CO137-AF, CO158-AF, CO158-AF-RXB, or CP258-AF.

All of the air fryers have the brand-name “COSORI” printed on the front of the unit. They came in 3.7-quart and 5.8 quart sizes. The units may be black, gray, white, blue or red colors.

Where Were They Sold?

About 2 million Cosori Air Fryers were sold nationwide in the U.S. from June 2018 through December 2022 at major stores like Best Buy, Target, The Home Deport, Amazon.com, and many websites. The recall also includes about 250,000 Cosori Air Fryers that were sold in Canada, plus another 21,000 sold in Mexico.

What Should I Do?

Consumers can contact Cosori for a free replacement air fryer or a coupon for another Cosori product. No receipt is necessary, but you will need to provide photos of the unit. To register, visit the recall website at recall.cosori.com.
