Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Trays Recalled for Salmonella

On August 27, 2021, Fratelli Beretta recalled certain uncured antipasto trays after the products were linked to an outbreak of Salmonella infections.

How Many People Are Sick?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been investigating an Salmonella outbreak linked to Italian-style meats, with at least 36 illnesses in 17 states reported between May 9 and July 27, 2021. At least 12 people were hospitalized due to a severe illness.

What Products Were Recalled?

Fratelli Beretta only issued a limited recall for 24-oz. trays that contain two 12-oz. packages of “Fratelli Beretta UNCURED ANTIPASTO PROSCIUTTO, SOPPRESSATA, MILANO SALAMI & COPPA” with best-by dates of August 27, 2021 through February 11, 2022, and a UPC Code 073541305316.

These products were sold at grocery stores nationwide in vacuum-sealed plastic packages. They may contain a variety of Italian-style meats, such as uncured salami, prosciutto, coppa, or soppressata.

The recall involves products with best-by dates of August 27, 2021 through February 11, 2022, but the CDC is warning people to not eat any Fratelli Beretta Uncured Antipasto trays with “best by” dates on or before February 11, 2022.
