Hostess Recalls Hot Dog & Hamburger Buns for Health Risks
In August 2021, Hostess Brands recalled certain Hostess® Soft White Hamburger Buns and Soft White Hot Dog Buns due to a serious health risk.
What is the Problem?
No illnesses were reported as of August 13, but the buns may be contaminated with both Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, which can cause severe food poisoning.
The issue was reported by a co-manufacturer, Best Harvest Bakeries, as part of an environmental monitoring program.
What Products Were Recalled?
This recall involves Hostess® Soft White Hamburger Buns and Soft White Hot Dog Buns, which were sold to distributors, convenience stores, and other retail stores nationwide in the United States.
The following products are affected by the recall:
- Hostess® Soft White Hamburger Buns: UPC 888109110987, Best-By Dates between 8/13/2021 and 10/4/2021
- Hostess® Soft White Hot Dog Buns: UPC 888109110970, Best-By Dates between 8/13/2021 and 9/30/2021
