Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Ovens Linked to Dozens of Reported Burns

In October 2026, the CPSC issued a product safety warning urging consumers to stop using Kalorik MAXX and MAXX Advance air fryer ovens with bilateral glass French doors after dozens of reports of burn injuries. The company has not issued a recall.

What Is the Problem?

Kalorik’s product page for the 26 Quart Digital MAXX Air Fryer Oven advertises the French doors as a way to avoid mess, drips and splashes.

Both models have 2 spring-loaded glass “French doors” with metal handles. If you pull one handle, both doors open. However, the interior of the door can be extremely hot when the oven is on.

If the door suddenly closes and a person’s arm is in the way, they may suffer severe injuries. The warning describes it this way:

“CPSC’s investigation revealed that the doors can suddenly close on consumers’ arms while the oven is on…”

How Many People Were Burned?

The exact number of injuries was not reported, but safety officials said that “dozens” of people were burned. There was 1 report of scarring.

Why Is There No Recall?

  • Team International Group of America, Inc.: original importer, now out of business
  • Kalorik, LLC: original importer, now out of business
  • The Legacy Companies, LLC: current owner of the Kalorik brand, declined to participate in a recall

As of October 22, 2026, the products were listed as “Sold Out.”

Where and When Were Kalorik MAXX Ovens Sold?

They were sold from April 2020 to January 8, 2024, by Team International Group of America, Inc. and Kalorik, LLC. After June 23, 2025, they were sold by The Legacy Companies, LLC.

The ovens were sold in stores and online at:

  • Walmart
  • Home Depot
  • Other specialty retailers nationwide
  • Kalorik.com
  • Amazon.com
  • Other online sites

How Do I Know If My Air Fryer Oven Is Affected?

Your oven may be affected if it has these features:

  • Kalorik brand, sold as the MAXX or MAXX Advance
  • Metal frame
  • Spring-loaded bilateral “French doors” made of glass
  • Metal door handles
  • Made in China

What Should I Do?

Stop using the oven and report incidents at SaferProducts.gov or by calling its hotline at 800-638-2772.

If you were burned, consider photographing the oven, its product label, and your injuries before the oven is discarded.
