Why Is the CPSC Warning People About Meisinuo Heated Insoles?
In July 2026, the CPSC warned consumers to immediately stop using Meisinuo heated insoles due to a fire hazard and a risk of serious burn injuries. About 1,372 pairs were sold on Amazon.com between August 2023 and December 2024 for $35 to $90.
According to the official warning:
“The internal lithium-ion battery can explode and ignite, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard.”
Heated insoles are used directly under the user’s foot, inside a closed boot or shoe that is typically laced up tight. When the battery in the heel fails or explodes, the heat and flames have nowhere to escape. All of the heat is trapped directly against the victim’s foot, which can result in severe 3rd-degree burns within seconds.
How Many People Were Burned?
The CPSC is aware of 17 reports of fires, explosions, and other thermal incidents involving the defective insoles. At least 15 people reported burn injuries, including serious 2nd-degree and 3rd-degree burns that required hospital treatment.
How Do I Identify Meisinuo Heated Insoles?
- Black insoles with a lithium-ion battery located in the heel area
- Operated by a remote control
- Sold online at Amazon.com from August 2023 through December 2024
- Priced between $35 and $90
- Manufactured in China and sold by Meisinuo
Why Is There No Recall or Refund?
Meisinuo has not agreed to recall the insoles or offer a remedy to consumers. There is no refund, repair, or replacement program, which is why the CPSC issued a unilateral public safety warning (Warning Number 26-612) rather than announcing a recall.
What Should I Do With Meisinuo Heated Insoles?
The CPSC urges consumers to dispose of the defective insoles immediately by following local hazardous waste disposal procedures. The agency warns that defective lithium-ion batteries should not be placed in household trash, curbside recycling bins, or retail battery recycling boxes, because they present a greater risk of fire than other batteries.
The CPSC also recommends contacting your municipal household hazardous waste collection center ahead of time to confirm that it accepts defective lithium-ion batteries. Incidents involving injury or product defect can be reported to the CPSC at SaferProducts.gov.
Have Other Heated Insoles Been Linked to Burn Injuries?
Yes. The CPSC has issued a series of similar warnings for other heated insole brands sold online, including iHeat in July 2025, Tajarly in September 2025, Junsyoung in March 2026, and METASONO/MEATSONO in 2026. In each case, the lithium-ion batteries were linked to reports of fires, explosions, and burn injuries.
Our lawyers are investigating heated insole lawsuit claims involving burn injuries from these and similar battery-powered foot warmers. The repeated failures across multiple brands suggest a broader problem with cheaply made lithium-ion heating products sold through online marketplaces.
