August 1, 2019 — Dorel Juvenile Group USA recalled Disney and Eddie Bauer inclined bassinets because babies can roll over, suffocate, and die.
Dorel recalled about 24,000 of the Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Bassinet (Model #BT055CSY) and the Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinet (Model #BT071DHS), which were sold since 2014.
The sleepers have not been linked to any reports of baby injuries or deaths, but the product design is similar to other products that are linked to at least 37 baby deaths, such as the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play, Kids II Rocking Sleepers, and Ultra-Lite Day & Night Play Yard.
Inclined sleepers pose a safety hazard because babies can roll over from their back to their stomach or side and suffocate. Very young babies who can’t hold up their head can also potentially suffocate in an inclined sleeper due to positional asphyxia.
The recalled sleepers were sold at Target, Kmart, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and other stores nationwide from November 2014 through February 2017 for about $60.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bassinets and contact Dorel for a $60 voucher.
