UPDATE: FDA Finds Cyclospora in Florida Canal Water
On August 14, the FDA reported that tests on canal water in Florida were positive for Cyclospora parasites, which could explain how the parasite contaminated red cabbage and iceberg lettuce used by Fresh Express. However, the FDA was unable to use genetic testing to confirm whether the parasite was identical to the one that caused the outbreak.

- Watery diarrhea (most common)
- Loss of appetite
- Weight loss
- Cramping
- Bloating
- Increased gas
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Vomiting
- Low-grade fever
Outlook & Treatment
A proper diagnosis of Cyclospora food poisoning requires specialized tests, so it is common for treatment to be delayed until a person is suffering from severe fatigue, weight-loss, or other complications. Hospitalization may be necessary, particularly for people with pre-existing health problems.
