What is the problem?
Bronco contains glyphosate, the same active herbicide in Roundup® weed-killer manufactured by Monsanto. In recent years, a number of studies have linked glyphosate exposure with cancer.
Glyphosate and Cancer
In 2015, based on 3 studies in Canada, the U.S., and Sweden linking glyphosate and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma among farm-workers, glyphosate was re-classified as a “probable human carcinogen” by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
What is Bronco?
Bronco® Herbicide is a product that is used for weed control in corn, soybeans, and grain sorghum (milo). It contains 276% alachlor, 14.8% glyphosate, and 57.6% inert ingredients. Alachlor has been determined to cause tumors in laboratory animals.
What is Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?
Lymphoma is a blood cancer that occurs when lymphocytes grow uncontrollably. Lymphocytes are cells that are responsible for fighting infections. When the cancerous lymphocytes crowd out healthy lymphocytes, they reduce the body’s ability to fight off infection.
$289 Million Awarded in Glyphosate Cancer Lawsuits
Monsanto is facing thousands of lawsuits from people with cancer who used glyphosate-based herbicides. In 2018, a jury in San Francisco awarded $289 million to a groundskeeper with lymphoma who was exposed to glyphosate on the job. The jury found that Monsanto should have known about the risk of cancer, but failed to warn about it.
