What is Garlon Fallow Master?

Garlon Fallow Master® is an herbicide that contains glyphosate (16.5%), dicamba (7%), and inert ingredients (76.5%). It is used to control or suppress emerged weeds in fallow and reduced tillage in small grain systems.

What is the Problem?

Garlon Fallow Master contains glyphosate, the same weed-killing chemical found in Roundup® and dozens of other herbicides. The problem is that glyphosate has been linked to reports of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other side effects.

Glyphosate Lawsuits

Glyphosate is currently the subject of more than 4,000 lawsuits accusing Monsanto of failing to warn about the risk of cancer. These lawsuits claim that Monsanto has known about the risk since at least the 1970s, but continued to advertise glyphosate-based herbicides as “safer than table salt” and “safe for people and pets.”

Glyphosate and Cancer

Glyphosate was declared to be “probably carcinogenic to humans” by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in 2015. The decision was based on 3 studies in the U.S., Canada, and Sweden that found higher rates of lymphoma among farm-workers who used glyphosate herbicides on crops.

Glyphosate Trial Ends in $289 Million Verdict Against Monsanto

In August 2018, a jury ordered Monsanto to pay $289 million to a school groundskeeper who developed lymphoma after using glyphosate. The jury determined that Monsanto should have known about the risk of cancer from glyphosate and provided stronger warning labels.
