What is Landmaster?
Albaugh’s Landmaster® is an herbicide manufactured by Monsanto that contains glyphosate (13.3%), ,4-D, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (11.1%), and other ingredients (75.6%). It is used to control weeds in agriculture, forestry, industrial use, and more.
What is the problem?
Landmaster contains glyphosate, a weed-killing chemical that is also found in Roundup®. The problem is that glyphosate has been linked to reports of cancer, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In 2015, glyphosate was declared to be “probably carcinogenic” to humans by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
Glyphosate Lawsuits
Monsanto is currently facing over 4,000 lawsuits alleging that glyphosate causes cancer. Monsanto is accused of ignoring evidence linking glyphosate and cancer dating back to the 1970s, as well as failing to put warning labels on glyphosate herbicides about the risk.
Monsanto Ordered to Pay $289 Million in Glyphosate Lymphoma Trial
In August 2018, Monsanto was ordered to pay $289 million to a former groundskeeper from California with lymphoma, after a jury found the company liable for failing to warn about the cancer risks of glyphosate.
