What is the problem?

Expedite® Herbicide contains glyphosate, the same active ingredient as Roundup® weed-killer. The problem is that glyphosate has been linked to higher rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in several studies of farm-workers who used glyphosate-based herbicides. These studies led to glyphosate being re-classified as a “probable human carcinogen” in March 2015 by the World Health Organization.

What is Expedite® Herbicide?

Expedite® Grass & Weed Herbicide is manufactured by Monsanto that has been on the market since the 1990s. It contains glyphosate (18.3%), a chemical that is toxic to broadleaf weeds, grassy plants, woody brush, trees, and many other plants.

Monsanto Ordered to Pay $289 Million to Cancer Victim

In August 2018, a jury in San Francisco ordered Monsanto to pay $289 million to DeWayne Johnson, a 46 year-old groundskeeper who was dying of lymphoma after being exposed to glyphosate.

Glyphosate Cancer Lawsuits

Thousands of lawsuits have been filed against Monsanto by people who were diagnosed with lymphoma after years of using glyphosate-based herbicides. These lawsuits claim that Monsanto ignored evidence linking glyphosate and cancer dating back to the 1970s. Monsanto is accused of intentionally failing to warn about the risk.

Glyphosate and Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that occurs in infection-fighting cells called lymphocytes. When these cancerous cells mutate and grow uncontrollably, they force out healthy lymphocytes and reduce the body’s ability to fight off infections. The symptoms may include:

  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Abdominal pain or swelling
  • Chest pain
  • Trouble breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Fever
  • Night sweats
  • Unexplained weight loss
