What is the problem?
Honcho® contains glyphosate, the same active ingredient in Roundup® herbicide. In 2015, the cancer-research division of the World Health Organization warned that glyphosate was a “probable human carcinogen” based on several studies in Canada, Sweden, and the United States that found higher rates of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
What is Honcho Herbicide?
Honcho® is an herbicide that is primarily used to kill broadleaf weeds and grassy plants. It contains a combination of glyphosate (41%) and other ingredients (59%), including a powerful surfactant and other chemicals. Honcho marketed by Bayer (formerly Monsanto).
Monsanto Ordered to Pay $289 Million in Glyphosate Cancer Lawsuit
In August 2018, a jury in San Francisco ordered Monsanto to pay $289 million to a former groundskeeper who developed non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using glyphosate herbicides. The victim, Dwayne Johnson, regularly sprayed glyphosate herbicides on school fields and was accidentally soaked in the chemical on multiple occasions.
What is Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes, which are part of the body’s immune system. It can occur in the lymph nodes, spleen, bone marrow, thymus, tonsils, digestive system, stomach, intestines, and other parts of the body.
