Overview
Monsanto is facing a class action in California for misleading consumers about the potential risks of Roundup. This class action is seeking refunds for everyone who bought Roundup based on false advertising claims.
List of Monsanto’s Glyphosate Herbicides
Monsanto sells the following glyphosate herbicides:
- Roundup Ultra®
- Roundup Pro®
- Accord®
- Honcho®
- Pondmaster®
- Rascal®
- Expedite®
- Ranger®
- Bronco®
- Campaign®
- Landmaster®
- Fallow Master®
Class Action Over False Advertising
In April 2015, Monsanto was hit with a Roundup class action lawsuit (PDF) in California Superior Court (Case No. BC-578-942) by three women who accuse the company of false advertising. They say ads falsely claim that Roundup only “targets an enzyme found in plants, but not in people or pets.”
Roundup Lawsuits Centralized in California
In October 2016, federal judges created a Multi-District Litigation (MDL No. 2741) to centralize individual federal Roundup lawsuits in the Northern District of California. Monsanto is accused of failing to warn about the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Lawyers also say the combination of glyphosate with the chemical POEA makes Roundup even more toxic.
What is the problem?
The Schmidt Firm, PLLC is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but our lawyers are not currently filing a Roundup class action against Monsanto. Instead, we are filing individual lawsuits on behalf of people who were diagnosed with cancer after exposure to Roundup, including:

- Anapalastic T-cell
- Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
- Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma
- Mantle Cell Lymphoma
- Primary Central Nervous System (CNS) Lymphoma
- Multiple Myeloma
About Class Actions
Class actions are designed to help a lot of people collectively seek compensation for similar legal claims. They are especially useful when consumers are seeking refunds or compensation for discrimination and fraud. Any payout awarded by a jury or settlement is shared equally among everyone in the class action.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to a Class Action
Class actions can have drawbacks for people with very severe injuries. Because it is extremely rare for consumer class actions to go to trial, most individual cases never go before a judge or jury. Members may also have to accept massive attorneys’ fees or a “low-ball” settlement.
Instead of a class action, our lawyers are filing individual lawsuits against Monsanto for downplay health risks of Roundup. We specialize in helping people who were injured by defective products get compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, wrongful death, and more.
